American International Group, Inc (NYSE:AIG) announces Kim Garland as chief underwriting officer

American International Group, Inc (NYSE:AIG) declared Kim Garland as chief underwriting officer for its global consumer insurance. Prior to this position, he served the AIG’s United Guaranty Corp. (UGC) as president and CEO.

It was stated by the company that Garland under the post of Chief Underwriting Officer will be look-after the consumer book of business underwriting results across the globe. He will continue to serve AIG by developing the risk appetite and profile for the company. Further, by working with business lines and regions, he will also perform the task of making strategic plan for each product line.

The company revealed that the American International Group’s, Inc (NYSE:AIG) new Chief Underwriting Officer will report to global consumer insurance CEO Jeff Hayman. The year Garland joined the UNG as chief operating officer was 2009. Prior to that job, he served the Safeco and GEICO (personal lines business) for tenure of 20years.

Donna DeMaio will succeed Garland as president and CEO of UGC to manage the company’s growth and profitability.

At the close of the trading day, American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG) shares rose +1.38% to settle at $33.78. Intraday trading was between $33.45 – $34.30. In the past year, the stock has traded within a range of $22.19 – $37.67. The last session’s volume of 28.75 million shares was up from the average daily trading volume of 18.98 million shares.

ACE Limited (NYSE:ACE) shares were up +1.18% to close at $80.31. The stock traded between $78.53 – $80.46 during the last trading session. In the last 12 months the shares have traded between $66.25 and $82.07. The last session’s volume of 1.80 million shares was a bit higher than their average daily trading volume of 1.53 million shares.
