Energy sector components gained on Wednesday, courtesy to robust faring by Hess Corp. (HES) as the oil and gas firm reported that it found extra oil off the coast of Ghana.

New York City-located Hess (HES)declared its fifth oil discovery in Ghana, a field it possesses with a small involvement of Ghana’s National Petroleum Corp. Moreprogress is predicted in coming year.

Molycorp Inc.’s (NYSE:MCP) shares, which declined 13% following the rare-earth mining firm reported that President and Chief Executive Mark Smith had been fired from company, have mostly healed its wounds a day after as some on Wall Street stated that the news is constructive.
