Health Roundup: Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) Paying Charges Over Settlements of Zyvox and Lyrica

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) decided to pay a collective $42.9 million to North Carolina and 32 other states in a settlement of accusations that the drug manufacturer used biased and deceiving practices in the distribution of antibiotic Zyvox and nerve-pain medicine Lyrica.

Eli Lilly & Co. (LLY) declined more than 3% on Wednesday as the drug manufacturer reported that it was going back to the laboratory to experiment a therapy it hopes would aid Alzheimer’s patients.

Lilly is making this move instead of risk going to the Food and Drug Administration and face refusal for solanezumab, the therapy intended to help comfort dementia in patients with mild cases of Alzheimer’s.

In the other health-care components, shares of Aetna Inc. (NYSE:AET)rallied in the light of a conference kept by the insurer seemed to motivate investors, with major provisions of President Barack Obama’s health-care overhaul near to come into force.
Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) dropped of -0.51% and closed at $25.51 with the total traded volume of 29.83 million shares. PFE has trailing twelve months’ earnings per share of $1.25.

Eli Lilly & Co. (NYSE:LLY) shares moved down -3.16% to close at $49.00 and its total traded volume during last trading session was 18.76 million shares.

LLY’s has market capitalization of $56.86 million and its beta value stands at 0.68 times.  LLY’s has current ratio of 2.02 and its debt-to-equity ratio was 0.34.

Aetna Inc. (NYSE:AET) surged +3.21% with the closing price of $45.91. The overall volume in the last trading session was 8.45 million shares. Its fifty two week range was $34.58-$51.14. The total market capitalization remained $15.36 billion.
