Dividend yield is the yield a company pays out to its shareholders in the form of dividends. This ratio is gauged by taking the amount of dividends paid a share over the course of a year and dividing by the security’s price.

Basically, dividend yield is the financial ratio that shows how a corporation makes the dividend payments at the finish of the year and it is really relative to the price of the corporation’s stock.

However the dividend yield is simply the return on investment (ROI) earned for investment made on a security if we do not consider capital gains. Dividend yield is a way of measuring how much return investors are getting for the money put in.
