Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) intends to offer $72 discount for iPhone 5

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc (NYSE:WMT) is in fact quite excited to get shoppers in its doors and has now made available the iPhone 5 at a discount of $72 from Apple’s retail price.

The retailer declared on Friday that it will sell the iPhone 5 for $127 under a new 2-year contract, or to users who are entitled for an upgrade through their carrier. The retail giant also lowered the price of privious year’s iPhone 4S to $47 which was previously being sold with $87.97 price tag, which also needs a carrier contract.

It was revealed by the 9to5Mac that 3G iPad is also on sale for $399.WMT is also going to offer a $30 Walmart gift card to iPad purchasers on Monday, December 17. According to the company, no online details are available and are provided only in its retail store.

At the close of the trading day, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) shares fell -0.42% to settle at $68.75. Intraday trading was between $68.74 – $69.30.  In the past year, the stock has traded within a range of $57.18 – $77.60. The last session’s volume of 10.50 million shares was up from the average daily trading volume of 9.92 million shares.

Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST) shares were down -0.95% to close at $96.92.
